Francisco Serra Lopes is a French and Portuguese philologist (2001) with an MA in Comparative Studies by the University of Lisbon (2004), an Advanced Studies degree in Aesthetics (2008), and a FCT sponsored PhD in Humanities by Pompeu Fabra University, Barcelona (2010), with a thesis on apophasis in mysticism and contemporary art.

He trained as a psychoanalyst, but clinical practice led him to criticize Lacan’s administrative view of the subject and the disavowal of the body, and to seek more intuitive approaches to science and transmission through performance art. An active promoter of Luso-Catalan cultural relations, he co-founded DIIA (2008) and Petrolio (2016), having co-edited ACT25 Catalunha, Catalunya (2011) and Resistir ao Tempo. Uma antologia de poesia catalã (2017). The theoretical and artistic work he develops under the alias of Francesc Oui addresses aporias of capitalism such as the new morality of hyper-surveillance and the persecution of sexual difference.
